I am an outdoorsmen who has devoted my life to chasing game across the country. I grew up in the midwest chasing gobblers and bucks, but quickly became addicted to going after any tag I could get my hands on. After our family farm was sold when I was 17, public land became my ground. I have prided myself on chasing animals all over the country on our public lands by doing DIY hunts. DIY hunts have always given me an unmatched sense of pride when completing. At the start of my growing hunting career, most of the tags I acquired came home with me. I failed on multiple occasions but quickly realized with some small changes, my success in punching tags started to grow. That being said, every tag I didn’t fill always taught me what I needed to do differently. I think back to a 16-day elk hunt with Dad in Wyoming that took us 13 days to finally locate elk. By the time we found them, a storm had rolled in and dropped three foot of snow on us, which pushed us off the mountain to avoid being stranded. If we had the knowledge we had learned over the years, we wouldn’t have wasted 13 days in areas we had no sense being in, and would have most likely came back with the two nice bulls we were glassing before the storm rolled in. I love to see others succeed and fulfill their dreams, so this was my call to help others reach those goals. My goal is to help other hunters bypass simple mistakes that prevent us from being successful in filling tags.
